Lead our Housekeeping Team in the Heart of the Lake District.
The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel is a traditional, family-run hotel nestled in the stunning Langdale Valley. Under new ownership, we are passionate about delivering genuine Cumbrian hospitality, fantastic food and drink, and exceptional service in one of the Lake District's most iconic settings.
We are looking for an experienced, motivated and hands-on Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous hotel housekeeping management experience who takes pride in maintaining exceptional standards and enjoys leading a team.
The Role
As Head Housekeeper, you will take overall responsibility for the housekeeping department, ensuring every bedroom and public area is presented to an exceptional standard whilst leading and developing the housekeeping team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing the day-to-day operation of the housekeeping department.
- Leading, motivating and supporting the housekeeping team.
- Planning daily room allocations and workloads.
- Inspecting bedrooms and public areas to ensure consistently high standards.
- Ensuring all housekeeping procedures and checklists are followed.
- Training and developing new and existing team members.
- Managing linen, cleaning products and housekeeping stock.
- Liaising closely with Reception regarding arrivals, departures and room priorities.
- Identifying and reporting maintenance issues promptly.
- Ensuring Health & Safety and COSHH procedures are followed.
- Taking ownership of housekeeping standards throughout the hotel and driving continuous improvement.
About You
We're looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a Head Housekeeper or Senior Housekeeper within a hotel.
- Is a confident and supportive leader.
- Has exceptional attention to detail.
- Takes pride in delivering consistently high standards.
- Can organise workloads effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Has excellent communication and people management skills.
- Is reliable, proactive and highly organised.
- Is willing to work weekends and bank holidays as required.
