Job Description
New Road Education is working with a specialist primary SEN school in Feltham, London Borough of Hounslow to recruit a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant for an immediate start.
This setting supports pupils aged 3–11 with severe and profound learning difficulties, many of whom also have additional needs such as autism and social, emotional and mental health needs.
The school offers a highly structured, supportive environment where pupils benefit from a personalised, multi-disciplinary approach to learning. Staff work closely alongside therapists and specialist teams to support each child’s individual needs.
This is a full-time, term-time role to start immediately, with the opportunity to continue long-term/permanent for the right candidate.
The Role
- Supporting pupils on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Assisting with communication, engagement, and sensory-based learning
- Supporting personal care and physical needs where required
- Helping pupils regulate emotions and behaviour in a structured setting
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals
- Creating a safe, consistent, and nurturing learning environment
SEN Needs May Include
- Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
- Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
- Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
- Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
- Sensory processing and communication needs (including non-verbal pupils)
- Physical and medical needs requiring additional support
You do not need experience with all of the above. Experience, confidence, or a genuine interest in supporting children with complex SEN is key.
This role is ideal for candidates who:
- Are patient, calm, and resilient
- Are comfortable supporting children with complex needs and personal care
- Have a genuine interest in SEN and child development
- Enjoy working in a structured, team-focused environment
- Have experience in:
- SEN or mainstream schools
- Care or support roles
- Youth work or nursery settings
- Supporting family members with additional needs
- Psychology, education, or related fields
