Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Nursery Manager to oversee daily operations within our childcare facility. The ideal candidate will possess strong management and leadership skills, with a passion for early childhood education and childcare. This role involves ensuring a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children, while maintaining high standards of service and compliance with relevant regulations. The Nursery Manager will also be responsible for leading a team of staff, developing programmes, and fostering positive relationships with parents and guardians.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the daily running of the nursery, ensuring all activities adhere to safety standards and regulatory requirements
- Lead, motivate, and supervise nursery staff to deliver high-quality childcare and educational programmes
- Develop and implement age-appropriate learning activities that promote children's development
- Manage staff rotas, recruitment, training, and performance appraisals
- Build strong relationships with parents and guardians, providing updates on children's progress and addressing concerns effectively
- Maintain accurate records of children's attendance, development milestones, and health information
- Ensure the nursery environment is clean, safe, organised, and welcoming at all times
- Coordinate with external agencies or professionals as needed for specialised support or training programmes
- Monitor budgetary aspects related to staffing, resources, and supplies
Skills
- Proven management experience within a childcare or nursery setting
- Strong leadership qualities with the ability to inspire and guide a team of staff members
- Extensive experience working with children and understanding of early childhood development principles
- Knowledge of childcare regulations and health & safety standards in the UK
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Childcare qualifications such as NVQ Level 3 in Childcare or equivalent are desirable
- Experience in early childhood education or nursery experience is preferred
- Valid driving licence is advantageous for travel between sites or community engagement activities
