We’re recruiting an experienced, quality-driven Deputy Manager to support the delivery of our new services in Derby City Centre, opening later this year. The service may also support adults stepping down from hospital into the community, helping them regain independence while managing complex needs.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll tackle the real challenges of complex care, supporting individuals to overcome obstacles, build life skills, and regain confidence. The work is demanding but seeing the difference you make every day is incredibly rewarding.
Your role
As Deputy Manager, you’ll support the Service Manager in the quality, safety, and day-to-day running of the service, including:
- Supporting the day-to-day operational management of the service
- Assisting with the mobilisation and development of the new service
- Supporting compliance with CQC Fundamental Standards and internal quality systems
- Embedding positive behaviour support, risk management, and person-centred planning
- Leading by example on shift and providing hands-on support when required
- Supervising, supporting, and developing staff to deliver high-quality care
- Assisting with rotas, staffing, occupancy, and key operational tasks
- Working closely with families, professionals, commissioners, and internal teams
You’ll be supported by an experienced Service Manager, Area Manager, and an Internal PBS Specialist, alongside tailored training to help you succeed in this specialist service.
Who we’re looking for
This role will suit someone motivated, values-led, and confident working with adults with complex behaviours, learning disabilities, autism, mental health and complex transitions, including hospital discharges and step-down support into the community.
You’ll bring:
- Experience working with adults with a learning disability, mental health needs and complex behaviours
- Experience managing complex transitions, including hospital discharges, step-down pathways, or high-acuity residential services
- A strong understanding of CQC regulations and health & social care standards
- Knowledge of positive behaviour support and risk management
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to lead and support staff effectively
- The ability to remain composed, professional, and solution-focused when facing challenges
- A Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (minimum)
- Flexibility to meet the needs of the service
