Role Definition
- To manage & continually improve the activities of the HR function to ensure delivery of the site and Group HR strategy, in line with Company policy, legislation and best practice.
- To build the performance and capability of individuals and teams through the provision of appropriate development activity and processes, enabling the provision of optimal resourcing.
- The HR Manager reports to the General Manager and is a member of the site senior team, being involved in all major business decisions / plans for the site.
- The role / this team regularly participate in other activities on site, potentially with all other disciplines, e.g. continuous improvement projects.
- This role has a dotted reporting line to the HR Director and is involved in developing and implementing the HR strategy.
- The role also supports BPO HR through the sharing of best practice, and the roll-out of specific work activities/projects.
Accountabilities
- Responsible for the successful delivery of the People Strategy as well as being part of the Senior Team delivering the turnover and EBITDA for the site.
- Leading the HR team in providing first-line HR support across the business
- Driving the HR agenda and contributing to business success
- Developing and initiating strategies to recruit, engage and retain talent
- Developing and implementing a performance driven culture
- Management of Payroll for all staff on site
- Leading the Training and Development programme on site delivering core training programmes, development programmes and skills development
- Advising and improving on recognition and reward programmes
- Overseeing training and career development
- Creating and leading projects to improve HR reporting, processes, and systems
- Ensuring compliance with UK Employment Laws
- Coaching managers on employee relations including disciplinaries, grievance and performance management
- Leading on policy & procedures, reward, HRIS, TUPE, leadership development and other specific projects
- Management of employee relations processes to ensure that grievance and disciplinary issues are resolved as quickly as possible.
- Ensure the appraisal process is delivered, manage development and personal progression, manage poor performance through employee development or contract termination, monitor absence and ensure appropriate action is taken.
- Contribution to the continuous improvement in business performance.
- Union negotiations, annual pay negotiations, consultations and management of terms and conditions.
- Responsibility for TUPE and redundancy consultations.
- Responsibility for successful delivery of Department and Company restructures.
Experience
- Significant experience working in a People (HR) function - Food Manufacturing or similar industry would be an advantage.
- Experience of end to end recruitment including advertising, interviewing, candidate assessment and final offer
- Employee relations knowledge and practice
- Accuracy in People administration and use of HR platforms (HRIS, Payroll and clocking systems, Benefits portals)
- Experience managing payroll and employee benefits
- Experience covering the whole HR remit – Employee Relations, Onboarding, Training & development, Union Negotiations, Management of short and long term absence
- Reporting of HR KPI’s at a senior level
- Ability to build and maintain credible and strong professional relationships to all levels
Knowledge/Skills
- Ability to organise and lead a small team
- Ability to demonstrate mature, influencing skills
- CIPD qualified, with significant experience managing a standalone HR function
- Good knowledge of UK employment law

Pay: £50,000.00-£55,000.00 per year
