SCHOOL VACANCY
The Joseph Rowntree School is looking to recruit a General Teaching Assistant to work in our SEMH Support Provision. This role is designed to support students who have low levels of attendance, challenges accessing mainstream lessons or SEMH needs which would benefit from a smaller space. This is an exciting opportunity to support those students, and those who are not currently accessing full timetables, and work with them to reintegrate them back into school.
The SEMH Lead will coordinate the provision available. This candidate will work alongside our SEMH Lead to support these students with their learning by accessing materials set by classroom teachers for individual work, delivering academic interventions and ensuring the smooth running of the facility. Each student will use the provision differently as we bridge the gap between mainstream classrooms and home, for those returning from absence.
The successful candidate would become a key member of staff for a small number of students (a maximum of 10 students at any time).
This post would be a good opportunity for candidates who are considering the teaching profession.
You will join an enthusiastic team to provide a high standard of support to students through the course of their school day here at The Joseph Rowntree School. You will work under the direction of the teacher/team leaders to undertake work, care and support programmes, to enable access to learning and to assist the teachers in delivering the curriculum.
Personal qualities should include energy, enthusiasm, assertiveness, high standards, a strong personality, a sense of perspective and you must be a team player.
We offer a range of benefits, including:
-
Full access to Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS)
- Training and development opportunities (CPD)
- Access to Cycle to Work scheme
- Access to an employee benefit scheme, which offers discounts across a range of products and services from health and wellbeing to leisure and retail.
- Access to our Employee Assistance Programme with 24/7 helpline for free and confidential advice
You will find us to the north of the historic city of York in an excellent learning environment with superb facilities.
The school is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We require the successful applicant to undertake an enhanced Criminal Record check via the Disclosure and Barring Service.
