Membership Consultant – Lanes Health Clubs
Location: Lanes Health Clubs - Rustington
Hours: Up to 37.5 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Rota basis – up to 5 days per week. Shifts include 9:00am–5:00pm and 10:00am–6:00pm. Flexibility required to work weekends and bank holidays.
Salary: £12.71 per hour + uncapped commission
Realistic OTE: Around £30,000 per year (pro-rata)

The Role
As a Membership Consultant, you will play a key role in both acquiring new members and retaining existing ones. You will be responsible for promoting memberships, achieving sales targets, and ensuring every prospective and existing member receives a professional and welcoming experience.
You will be expected to confidently guide prospects through the full member journey — from initial enquiry and club tours through to membership sign-up and ongoing relationship management.
This role requires energy, resilience, attention to detail, and a strong ability to communicate effectively both face-to-face and over the phone.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive new membership sales through proactive lead generation, follow-ups, appointments, and club tours
- Achieve and exceed individual sales and retention targets
- Build strong relationships with prospective and existing members
- Deliver exceptional customer service at every stage of the member journey
- Handle membership enquiries professionally via phone, email, and in person
- Maintain accurate member records and manage direct debit administration
- Support member retention by building rapport and identifying opportunities to enhance the member experience
- Work collaboratively with all club departments to maintain a positive and professional environment
- Represent the Lanes Health Clubs brand with professionalism, enthusiasm, and integrity
- Maintain excellent product knowledge across memberships, wellness offerings, personal training, swimming lessons, and club facilities
- Ensure the club presentation and sales areas remain welcoming and professional at all times
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in sales within a fast-paced or target-driven environment
- Proven ability to meet and exceed sales targets
- Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills
- Proactive attitude with the drive to seek out and convert sales opportunities
- Professional and confident phone manner
- Highly organised with strong attention to detail
- A team player with a positive and energetic approach
- Passionate about health, fitness, wellness, and customer experience
- Flexible, reliable, and able to adapt to the needs of the business
- Comfortable working in a performance-focused environment with KPIs and targets
