About the role
We are looking for an organised and motivated Senior Administrator to join the Student Funding team on a maternity cover basis.
This is a varied and rewarding role focused on the administration, assessment and delivery of a range of student bursary, scholarship and financial support schemes. You will play a key role in ensuring students receive the financial support they are entitled to, processing applications and payments accurately, maintaining records, and applying funding criteria consistently and fairly.
Working across multiple schemes throughout the academic year, you will be responsible for managing competing priorities, interpreting complex guidance and regulations, and ensuring that processes are delivered efficiently and in line with agreed timescales. You will work closely with colleagues across the University and external stakeholders to support the successful operation of both University-funded and donor-funded schemes.
The role requires a high level of attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and the ability to manage large volumes of complex administrative work. We are looking for a proactive self-starter who can work independently, is confident working with spreadsheets, databases and student record systems, as well as using your judgement to resolve queries, identify issues and escalate matters appropriately when required.
You will support scheme delivery, testing and process improvements, potentially contribute to the development of new funding initiatives, and help ensure that students receive an excellent service.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has significant experience in a complex administrative role requiring accuracy, judgement and attention to detail.
- Can confidently interpret and apply policies, guidance, regulations or eligibility criteria.
- Has experience of working with spreadsheets, databases and a range of IT systems to manage and maintain accurate records.
- Is highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities, deadlines and competing demands.
- Has excellent problem-solving skills, works proactively and can use initiative to identify solutions and improve processes.
- Can proactively build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across different teams.
- Is confident handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Knows when to make decisions independently and when issues should be escalated.
- Works collaboratively and is willing to support colleagues across a range of funding schemes and projects.
- Can quickly understand new processes, funding schemes and areas of work, adapting to changing priorities where required.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a supportive and collaborative team and make a direct impact on students by helping to ensure financial support reaches those who need it.
We offer a diverse range of benefits and opportunities to pursue a rewarding and fulfilling career in a supportive environment.
