If you’re an experienced Care Assistant who prefers working nights, we might have just the role for you.
We’re looking for a kind, reliable and down-to-earth Night Care Assistant to join our team at Towy Castle Care Home.
You’ll work a straightforward 3 nights on / 3 nights off rolling rota, giving you a consistent pattern so you know when you’re working and, just as importantly, when you’re not!
This is a hands-on care role, so we’re looking for someone who already has previous experience working in care and can confidently support our residents throughout the night.
What Does a Night Shift Look Like?
No two nights are exactly the same.
Some residents may sleep soundly, while others might need personal care, help getting comfortable, a cup of tea, reassurance or simply someone friendly to chat to when they can’t sleep.
You’ll be there to make sure residents feel safe, comfortable and well cared for throughout the night.
Your night will include things like:
- Supporting residents with personal care
- Helping with repositioning and continence care
- Carrying out regular wellbeing and safety checks
- Responding to call bells and individual needs
- Offering reassurance and companionship
- Supporting residents who wake or become unsettled during the night
- Keeping care records accurate and up to date
- Helping prepare for morning routines
- Working alongside the rest of the night team to keep things running smoothly
It’s important to us that our residents feel at home, so while providing excellent care matters, so do the little things - kindness, patience, a friendly face and treating people as individuals.
Who Are We Looking For?
You don’t need to have every qualification under the sun.
What we do need is someone who has previous experience working in care, understands what good care looks like and can be relied upon by both residents and colleagues.
You’ll ideally be someone who:
✓ Has previous experience as a Care Assistant, Carer, Support Worker or similar
✓ Is comfortable providing personal care
✓ Is kind, patient and respectful
✓ Is reliable and turns up when your team is counting on you
✓ Can remain calm when things don’t quite go to plan
✓ Is comfortable working throughout the night
✓ Can work well independently and as part of a team
✓ Is happy to get stuck in and help where needed
Experience supporting older people or people living with dementia would be welcomed.
An NVQ/QCF Level 2 in Health & Social Care would also be great, but isn’t essential.
Your Rota
We like to keep this bit simple:
10:00pm - 8:00am
3 nights on / 3 nights off
Permanent night shifts
Because it’s a rolling rota, your working nights will include weekends and bank holidays.

A Little About Towy Castle
Towy Castle Care Home is located near Carmarthen in beautiful surroundings overlooking the Towy Estuary.
Our aim is pretty simple, to provide a place where residents feel safe, comfortable, respected and genuinely at home.
As part of our night team, you’ll play a big part in making sure that continues long after the daytime team have headed home.
Getting Here
Towy Castle is in a rural location, and public transport is limited, particularly at 10pm and 8am.
You don’t necessarily need to drive, but you do need to have a reliable way of getting to and from the home for every shift, including weekends and bank holidays.
