STUDIO FACILITIES ASSISTANT

We build and operate go-to destination venues that are fully flexible, contemporary and impressive with the ability to showcase world-class entertainment whilst providing a greater audience experience for all.
We are looking for a hard-working and motivated Studio Facilities Assistant who can support the Facilities Manager in all aspects of projects, maintenance, and facilities at Meridian Water Studios. The ideal candidate must be willing to undertake manual labour, and have a physically hands on approach to the role.
This is a junior role that requires excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to multitask, prioritise and problem-solve. The ideal candidate must be willing to work weekends, when required, as part of their 5 day working week. We are looking for a proactive self-starter who can adopt and help optimise site processes and procedures to ensure Meridian Water Studios is a safe, clean and fully operational site at all times.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance
- To support the Facilities Manager in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of premises-related mechanical, electrical and heating services, monitoring and recording of metre readings as required
- To take appropriate action to ensure and monitor safe levels of lighting, heating and ventilation site-wide
- Support the Facilities Manager with the maintenance and upkeep of Meridian Water Studios’ buildings and grounds
- Follow the provided maintenance schedule for building services and equipment
Services and Resources
- Liaise with contractors, subcontractors, service suppliers, specialist consultants and professional advisers as required by the Studio and Facilities Managers
- Assist the Facilities Manager with cost comparison exercises relating to goods or services to achieve maximum value for money
- To review heating, electricity, and water usage and to advise on proposals for greener and energy saving methods
Compliance and Monitoring
- Support the Facilities Manager in ensuring site-wide compliance with all relevant health and safety, environmental and fire regulations, legislation, industry standards, approved codes of practice and policies and procedures
- Monitor the permit to work process and issue permits to clients and contractors responsibly as required by the Facilities Manager
- Ensure good upkeep of equipment and supplies to meet health and safety standards
- To undertake the operation and periodic checking of the fire alarm system and equipment
- Work with the Facilities Manager to monitor the safe storage and control of any potentially harmful materials and chemicals used within the venue and ensure that such materials are appropriately marked and signposted
Staff Management
- Support the Facilities Manager with the management, training and development of the facilities team
- Duty management of the facilities team in the absence of the Facilities Manager
- To support the Facilities Manager in the hiring and training of the facilities team
Other Duties
- Ensure friendly, professional and clear communication with Meridian Water Studios staff, contractors and clients at all times
- To attend meetings and company updates as required
- Be responsive out of business hours to respond to site issues
- To maintain confidentiality of information acquired in the course of undertaking duties for Troubadour Theatres
- Any other duties as may be reasonably required
Required Skills
- Demonstrable experience working in a facilities or building industry role
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to deal with a wide range of people
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including good telephone manner and ability to present well in person
- Ability to support individuals and teams, working collaboratively and productively to achieve targets
- Ability to take initiative while working within clearly delegated levels of authority
- Good attention to detail
- Strong admin and IT skills
- Positive, proactive and professional attitude
- Willingness to adopt a flexible and adaptable approach to day-to-day workload
Desirable Skills
- First aid qualification
- Fire Marshal certificate
- Proficiency in Google Workspace
- Counterbalance forklift certificate
- IPAF 3a/3b

Contract terms:
- Responsible to: Site Manager
- Wage: £15.18 p/h (plus holiday accrual)
- Working Shifts: Shifts to be agreed in advance with your Manager. Early morning, evenings and/or weekend work will be required.
- Permanent Zero Hour Contract
- Start Date: ASAP
