We are looking for a practical, dependable and solutions-focused Potting and Production Assistant to join our nursery team in a full-time role working Tuesdays to Saturdays.
This is a varied, hands-on position for someone who enjoys working outdoors, takes pride in producing high-quality plants and can think creatively when solving day-to-day problems. You will support potting, plant care, stock accuracy and general nursery operations. Practical, hands-on maintenance jobs will also be part of the role.
Please note: This can be a physically demanding role involving regular manual work. Applicants must have a good level of fitness and stamina and be comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions.
What you will do
· Seasonally pot plants safely, efficiently and to the required specifications.
· Prepare plants and materials for production, checking quality throughout the process.
· Label plants correctly and maintain accurate production and stock records.
· Monitor plants for pests, diseases and quality issues, reporting or taking appropriate action.
· Carry out watering, pruning, caning, weeding, bed clearing and other general plant-care duties.
· Operate nursery machinery and equipment safely, including loaders and utility vehicles where trained and authorised.
· Support the smooth running of the nursery and help coordinate work when senior colleagues are absent.
· Communicate stock movements and production updates clearly to the nursery and sales teams.
· Assist customers, colleagues and visitors in a friendly, helpful and professional manner.
· Identify practical improvements to working methods, productivity, quality and efficiency.

· Previous nursery, horticultural, production or practical outdoor experience is helpful but not essential.
· Not essential but would be helpful: forklift and spray tickets (PA1 & PA6).
· Due to our remote location, you may need to be able to drive to get here.
Working pattern
This is a full-time position working Tuesday to Saturday – 7.30am to 4.30pm with an hour’s unpaid break. The role is based on site at the nursery and includes outdoor work throughout the year.
