Registered Manager – Evergreen Residential Care Home
Salary: £45,000–£50,000 per annum, depending on experience
Hours: 35–40 hours per week
On-call participation required
Overview
We are seeking an experienced, highly organised and commercially aware Registered Manager to lead and oversee our residential care home, providing high-quality, person-centred care for older people, including residents living with dementia.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have:
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Registered Manager of a residential care home
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care / Health & Social Care, or equivalent recognised Level 5 qualification
- Strong experience in elderly and dementia care
- A thorough working knowledge of CQC regulations, compliance, safeguarding, governance and quality assurance
This is a senior leadership role reporting directly to the Directors. The Registered Manager will work collaboratively with the Directors while taking ownership and accountability for the effective day-to-day management, compliance, quality and performance of the home.
The role will have clearly defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) which will be regularly reviewed with the Directors.
Key Responsibilities
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Take overall responsibility for the effective day-to-day management and leadership of the home.
- Ensure consistently high standards of safe, effective and person-centred care.
- Maintain compliance with CQC regulations, relevant legislation, policies and best practice, ensuring the home remains inspection-ready.
- Lead and maintain the home's audit, governance and quality-assurance programme, including care plans, medication, health & safety, infection control, safeguarding, staff records and other areas of regulatory compliance.
- Identify areas requiring improvement through audits and governance processes and ensure resulting action plans are documented, prioritised and completed within appropriate timescales.
- Develop, implement and regularly review person-centred care plans, risk assessments and resident assessments.
- Oversee medication management and administration, ensuring appropriate systems, audits, training and staff competency are maintained.
- Recruit, lead, motivate and develop the staff team, promoting a positive culture of accountability, teamwork and high-quality care.
- Manage staff performance, including supervision, appraisals, training, development, absence and performance-management processes.
- Ensure appropriate staffing levels are maintained and proactively manage recruitment and staff retention.
- Set and manage staff objectives and KPIs and ensure agreed actions are followed through to completion.
- Effectively manage and prioritise multiple operational, staffing, compliance and administrative responsibilities.
- Liaise professionally with residents, families, healthcare professionals, local authorities, CQC and other external stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation in accordance with regulatory and organisational requirements.
- Review and update policies and procedures as required.
- Manage safeguarding matters appropriately, ensuring concerns are identified, reported and acted upon.
- Support appropriate admissions and occupancy while ensuring that resident needs and the home's ability to safely meet those needs remain the priority.
- Maintain appropriate awareness of budgets, staffing costs, occupancy and the wider operational and commercial performance of the home.
- Report regularly to the Directors regarding compliance, staffing, occupancy, performance, risks and other key operational matters.
- Work collaboratively with the Directors on the ongoing development, performance and continuous improvement of the service.
- Participate in the home's on-call rota, providing appropriate management support and escalation outside normal working hours when required.

We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager who combines excellent care knowledge with strong leadership, management and business acumen.
You will be confident taking ownership of the role and making appropriate day-to-day management decisions while working collaboratively with and reporting to the Directors.
You must have:

- The ability to manage competing priorities and ensure important tasks are completed within required timescales
- The ability to delegate effectively while maintaining appropriate management oversight
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- The ability to work independently, use initiative and take ownership of issues through to resolution
- Strong attention to detail and effective record-keeping skills
- Excellent IT skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Confidence using electronic care-management systems and other online platforms
- A commitment to continuous improvement and professional development
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Registered Manager of a residential care home
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care / Health & Social Care, or equivalent
- Proven experience managing services for older people, including residents living with dementia
- Demonstrable experience of CQC compliance, audits, governance and quality assurance
- Proven experience successfully leading and managing a care team

On-call: Participation in the on-call rota is an essential requirement of the role.
