Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Perceived Quality Engineer to join a leading global aerospace organisation based in Cwmbran, South Wales.The successful candidate will be responsible for defining, developing, and maintaining the highest standards of perceived quality across premium aircraft interior and seating products. The role will act as a key interface between product design, industrial design, technical architecture, and engineering teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and drive perceived quality standards and targets for premium aircraft interior products.
- Create, maintain, and manage Product Acceptance Documents.
- Analyse design choices to maximise customer satisfaction and product quality perception.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including designers, engineers, suppliers, and Class-A surface modellers.
- Influence design decisions and promote best practices in design and manufacturing.
- Identify and resolve perceived quality risks through robust analysis and customer-focused thinking.
- Gather, document, and share lessons learned, benchmarks, and best practices.
- Engage with customers to understand and align perceived quality expectations.
- Conduct Perceived Quality (PQ) scoring and ensure product quality targets are achieved.
- Evaluate products from visual, tactile, and auditory perspectives.
- Promote a strong Perceived Quality culture across project teams.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and best-practice initiatives.
Essential Requirements
- Degree or equivalent qualification/experience in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Strong CAD skills, ideally CATIA V5.
- Experience in Perceived Quality, Product Quality, or a related engineering/design function.
- Strong understanding of factors influencing end-user quality perception.
- Ability to assess aesthetic, tactile, auditory, and visual aspects of product quality.
- Experience creating and maintaining Product Acceptance Documents and PQ scoring.
- Experience working with Class-A surface modellers, product designers, and engineering teams.
- Ability to challenge, influence, and validate design decisions against quality standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to communicate lessons learned and best practices effectively.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within aerospace or other regulated industries.
- Understanding of aircraft interiors or aircraft seating.
- Experience with premium, luxury, high-end, or customer-facing products.
- Knowledge of craftsmanship, flushness, surface quality, and product aesthetics.
