We are seeking a highly motivated, dynamic and forward-thinking Safeguarding Specialist to join the Safeguarding team on a permanent basis and be part of our improvement journey. You will be an integral part of the safeguarding team working where necessary autonomously, is reliable and flexible and can demonstrate expertise in safeguarding.
This role will involve receiving and responding to a range of multi-agency partners in relation to general safeguarding enquires and in the maintenance of records and data collection, prioritising workload, redistributing and redirecting as necessary within the required deadlines.
You will need to be able to demonstrate good communication skills and effective team working within teams and with other agencies including the local authorities and healthcare providers.
We expect an understanding of the legislation that supports work to safeguard children and adults; including involvement in Safeguarding supervision within the wider organisation.
We are open to flexibility in regards to the working pattern for this role. This could be full time for one candidate or part time for a few candidates. This position will operate on a variable rota spanning Monday -Saturday.
This opportunity offers remote working with the understanding that any IT issues would mean an on-site presence would be required.
Act as a key point of contact for safeguarding enquiries, responding to communications from patients, families, staff, external organisations and multi-disciplinary partners, while ensuring concerns are appropriately assessed and escalated.
Handle complex, sensitive and confidential safeguarding information, maintaining compliance with statutory and information governance requirements, including data protection, records management and confidentiality standards.
Support safeguarding operations across Primary Care by advising frontline staff, assisting with safeguarding enquiries, monitoring safeguarding reviews and Section 42 enquiries, and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships.
Provide administrative, information and reporting support to the Safeguarding Clinical Lead and Hub Manager, including contributing to policy development, service monitoring, performance reporting and continuous improvement activities.
Maintain high standards of professional practice through effective team working, proficiency in relevant IT systems, accurate record keeping, and completion of all required training and development.
Essential
Professional registration with the NMC or HCPC .
Level 3 Safeguarding Adults and Children training, and a strong understanding of safeguarding legislation, recognising abuse indicators, and reporting concerns appropriately.
Able to work professionally under pressure, handle sensitive and distressing situations, effectively negotiate, mediate, and build relationships across multi-disciplinary teams.
Strong attention to detail, the ability to prioritise competing demands, manage unpredictable workloads, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
Desirable
Specialist safeguarding experience, including Level 4 Safeguarding Adults and Children training (or willingness to undertake), safeguarding supervision training.
Ability to effectively triage safeguarding concerns, identify risk, and support appropriate interventions and escalation processes.
Experienced in NHS systems and processes, including Adastra, NHS Spine and NHS Pathways.
