Role Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Legionella Risk Assessor to lead and develop our Legionella compliance services. This role combines technical excellence with operational oversight and will act as the highest level of Legionella competence within the organisation.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership for Legionella risk assessments, quality assurance, compliance management, staff mentoring, and service delivery. They will act as the principal technical advisor to clients and support the continued growth and development of the Legionella department.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct complex Legionella risk assessments across commercial, industrial, healthcare, educational, residential, and process-water environments.
- Act as the organisation's lead technical authority for Legionella risk management and water hygiene compliance.
- Provide operational oversight of Legionella assessment activities and service delivery.
- Review, quality assure and sign off risk assessment reports produced by other assessors.
- Develop and maintain company Legionella procedures, templates, technical guidance, and quality standards.
- Mentor, train, and support Legionella Risk Assessors and junior staff in achieving competence.
- Advise clients on complex Legionella compliance matters, remedial strategies, and water safety management.
- Attend client meetings and provide technical presentations where required.
- Support business development activities and identify opportunities for service growth.
- Assist in recruitment, onboarding, and competency assessments of Legionella personnel.
- Monitor industry developments, legislation, guidance updates, and emerging best practices.
- Ensure compliance with UKAS, ISO, HSE guidance, and company quality management systems where applicable.
- Investigate technical escalations and provide expert recommendations.
- Produce and review schematic drawings and technical documentation.
- Support the senior management team in strategic planning and departmental development.

Hours of Work: 37.5 hrs per week (office hours)
Salary: £34,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
Ideal Candidate
- Advanced Legionella Risk Assessment qualification (City & Guilds, WMSoc, BOHS or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years' experience conducting Legionella risk assessments across a broad range of property types.
- Demonstrable experience overseeing technical quality and mentoring other assessors.
- Extensive knowledge of ACOP L8, HSG274, HTM 04-01, BS 8580 and associated guidance.
- Experience developing water safety management programmes and compliance strategies.
- Strong leadership, organisational, and decision-making abilities.
- Excellent report writing, presentation, and client management skills.
- Experience in operational planning or team supervision would be advantageous.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
