About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Cook to join the catering team at a welcoming nursing and care home in Ewerby, near Sleaford.
The home provides personal care, nursing care and dementia care for 42 residents and aims to provide nutritious, varied meals in a comfortable and homely environment.
As Cook, you will play an important role in ensuring residents receive high-quality meals and snacks that meet their individual needs and preferences.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and provide high-quality meals for residents, guests and visitors.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals in line with the home's menus.
- Provide appropriate choice and variety of meals and snacks.
- Take account of residents' individual dietary requirements and preferences.
- Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety.
- Follow relevant food safety and statutory requirements.
- Manage food orders and ensure they are placed on time.
- Monitor food usage and costs to ensure the catering service operates within budget.
- Work effectively with the wider care home team.
- Help maintain a safe, professional and cost-effective catering service.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need:
- Level 3 qualification in Catering, or be contractually committed to completing the qualification.
- A minimum of 2 years' catering experience in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience carrying out effective person-centred one-to-ones.
- At least 1 year of people management experience.
- Good knowledge of food hygiene and safe food preparation.
- A genuine interest in providing quality food and service to older people.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider care team.
- To live within approximately 20 minutes of the home.
