Job Title: Customer Experience Executive – Hire Desk
Job Type: Full-time
Hours: Monday - Friday 08:00 - 17:00pm
About the Role
Allshaw Hire is looking for a natural relationship-builder with sharp organisational instincts to join our team as a Customer Service Executive on our Hire Desk. This is a role for someone who thrives on turning a customer enquiry into a lasting relationship — someone who's as comfortable spotting a sales opportunity as they are keeping a busy desk running like clockwork.
You'll be the first point of contact for our customers and the engine room behind every hire, from first enquiry through to delivery, collection, and beyond. It's a role that rewards people who genuinely enjoy talking to people, who take pride in getting the details right, and who want to grow with a business that's scaling fast. If you've got the commercial instinct to spot an opportunity and the organisational discipline to deliver on it, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the voice of Allshaw Hire on the phone — handling enquiries and orders with accurate, confident product knowledge that builds customer trust
- Spot and pursue opportunities to win new clients within our existing sectors — this is a desk with a sales mindset, not just an admin one
- Own the full 360° journey from prospect to customer, with a genuine commercial understanding of how and where we make money
- Build real relationships — advising, problem-solving, and being the person customers want to call back
- Process orders accurately on our company software, keeping administration sharp and error-free
- Manage pre- and post-hire admin with full attention to detail
- Work closely with the accounts team to make sure extras are invoiced correctly, every time
- Plan and organise deliveries and collections into efficient driver schedules and runs
Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience delivering excellent customer service is essential; experience within the hire industry is not — though a working understanding of supplier and customer relationships would be a strong bonus
- Comfortable multitasking at pace, staying accurate under pressure
- Customer service skills with a clear focus on converting great service into sales
- Excellent attention to detail
- Confident with MS Office, particularly Outlook and Excel
- Commercial awareness — you understand where revenue comes from and why it matters
- Strong numeracy, literacy, and IT skills
- A collaborative team player who can also work on their own initiative
What We Offer
- Negotiable salary, based on experience
- Genuine progression opportunities as the business scales
- 20 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
- Uncapped bonus structure
- Individual & Team Incentives
- Company Pension
- Cycle to work scheme
