We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our established Estimating & Surveying Team and play a key role in the commercial management and successful delivery of our high quality prime residential building projects. The ideal candidate will be commercially aware, organised and confident managing projects and relationships. An excellent attention to detail and the ability to work independently while being part of a wider project team is essential.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to join a supportive construction company.
Your role
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of projects from pre-construction handover through to final account. Working closely with the Contracts Management and site teams, clients, Subcontractors and suppliers to ensure projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage budgets, forecasts, cash flow, costs, risks and commercial reporting
- Manage Subcontractor procurement, valuations, payments, variations and final accounts
- Manage client applications, variations, contractual notices and commercial submissions
- Ensure compliance with JCT contracts and company commercial procedures
- Work closely with Contracts Managers and Site Managers providing clear commercial guidance to ensure the overall commercial performance of each project and manage risk
- Lead value engineering and procurement strategies to improve profit margins
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, Subcontractors and suppliers
- Ensure company commercial policies, procedures and contractual requirements are followed
- Support the Commercial Director with commercial strategy, processes and resource planning
- Mentor and support Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors
What you bring - Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, preferably in traditional and high-end construction and restoration
- Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
Core Skills
- Strong knowledge of construction JCT contracts and commercial management
- Experience managing project costs, variations, valuations and final accounts
- Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to successfully build strong relationships and communicate with confidence with people at all levels
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Strong commercial and analytical ability
- A professional and proactive approach to problem solving
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- Full driving licence (endorsements to be disclosed) is essential as to travel to sites is required
