Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and skilled Cook/Chef to join our culinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of dishes, ensuring high standards of food quality and safety. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within hospitality but without the evening or Sunday work!
3 days per week, approx 8am-4pm this is a great opportunity within a reputable and popular Downpatrick cafe!
The ideal applicant will have a strong background in food preparation, excellent cooking skills, and experience working in a busy kitchen setting.
Duties
- Prepare and cook a diverse range of dishes according to recipes and presentation standards
- Assist with meal planning and ingredient sourcing to ensure freshness and quality
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
- Monitor food stock levels and assist with inventory management
- Ensure all food is prepared in a timely manner to meet service demands
- Follow health and safety procedures diligently, including proper handling of food and equipment
- Serve meals efficiently during busy periods, providing excellent customer service when required
- Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth kitchen operations and high-quality output
Requirements
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, or as a chef within a professional kitchen environment
- Strong knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene practices
- Experience in meal preparation for various dietary requirements and preferences
- Familiarity with restaurant or catering service operations is desirable
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to work efficiently under pressure
- Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
- Previous experience in serving customers or clients is advantageous
- Relevant culinary qualifications or certifications are preferred but not essential
