Experienced Dental Receptionist – Full Time
Silicon Dental Centre – Perivale, West London (UB6 7JZ)
From £14.50 per hour, with opportunity to progress
Full-time | Permanent
Ideal start date: September 2026
PLEASE READ THE FULL JOB DESCRIPTION BEFORE APPLYING
We are looking for a long-term addition to our team, not simply someone applying to multiple vacancies using one-click applications.
Before applying, please take a few minutes to read the full advert, check our location in Perivale, consider the working hours and your commute, and make sure the position genuinely suits what you are looking for.
We welcome applications from candidates who are serious about building a stable career within a dental practice and who meet the key experience requirements below.
As part of your application, we will ask a few short questions about your dental experience, Dentally knowledge and commute. Applications that do not answer these questions may not be progressed.
About the Practice
Silicon Dental Centre is a busy mixed private and NHS dental practice in Perivale, West London.
Although we provide both private and NHS dentistry, our approach to patient care, communication and service is very much that of a private clinic.
We provide a comprehensive range of treatments including:
- General and cosmetic dentistry
- Invisalign
- Composite bonding
- Teeth whitening
- Dental implants
- Root canal and re-root canal treatment
- EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy Hygiene
- Facial aesthetics
We take pride in providing patients with a professional, welcoming and personal experience from their first contact with the practice through to completion of their treatment.
Our reception team plays a very important part in delivering that experience.
Who We Are Looking For
We are looking for an experienced Dental Receptionist who is professional, organised, reliable and genuinely enjoys working with people.
This position would particularly suit someone who is looking for stability and a permanent role where they can become an established and valued member of the practice.
The right person will be:
- Experienced in dental reception
- Familiar with both private and NHS dentistry
- Experienced using Dentally, or able to demonstrate strong experience with a comparable dental system
- Confident managing a busy dental appointment diary
- Warm, approachable and naturally friendly with patients
- Professional and confident on the telephone
- Able to communicate clearly and professionally by email
- Organised and able to prioritise when several things require attention at once
- Proactive about following up patient enquiries and treatment leads
- Reliable and punctual
- Respectful of colleagues, management and professional boundaries
- Comfortable taking responsibility for their own duties
- Calm and sensible when reception becomes busy
- Able to work well as part of a team
- Caring and patient-focused
- Willing to learn and develop
- Looking for a long-term, permanent position
We don't expect anyone to be perfect.
We do expect reliability, professionalism, a positive attitude, accountability and a genuine willingness to contribute to the practice.
The Role
This is more than simply answering the telephone and booking appointments.
As one of the first people our patients speak to, you will have an important role in their overall experience of the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Welcoming patients and managing the reception area
- Answering telephone calls professionally
- Responding to patient emails and enquiries
- Managing and maintaining the appointment diary
- Booking, confirming and rescheduling appointments
- Processing patient payments
- Communicating appropriate private and NHS treatment information
- Following up new patient and treatment enquiries
- Following up patient leads
- Managing recalls and outstanding appointments
- Helping to maintain productive and well-organised diaries
- Communicating with clinicians and the wider team
- Supporting the smooth day-to-day running of reception
- Identifying issues and taking appropriate action rather than simply leaving them for someone else
You will need to be comfortable balancing excellent patient service with the organisational and commercial responsibilities of a modern dental practice.
Working Hours
The usual working hours are:
Monday to Friday: 8:45am–6:00pm
Lunch: 1:00pm–2:00pm (unpaid)
Occasional Saturday cover may be required:
Saturday: 8:45am–1:00pm
Where appropriate, this may be arranged as four weekdays plus Saturday, with a weekday off.
Some flexibility is therefore important, and flexibility from our team is appreciated and reciprocated wherever reasonably possible.
Location – Please Consider Your Journey Before Applying
Our practice is based in Perivale, West London (UB6 7JZ).
We strongly encourage applicants to check the practice location and consider their journey before applying.
We do not provide staff parking. Off-street parking may be available in the surrounding area, approximately a 10-minute walk from the practice.
The position also involves regular movement around the practice, including using stairs during the working day.
Please make sure you are comfortable with the location, journey and working hours and that you would be able to arrive reliably for an 8:45am start.
We would much rather you consider this carefully now than discover after accepting the position that the commute is not sustainable for you.
Salary & Progression
Starting salary: from £14.50 per hour, depending on experience.
We believe that good people should have the opportunity to progress.
Salary and responsibilities can develop as you demonstrate your ability, reliability, contribution to the practice and understanding of the role.
We are looking for someone who wants to grow with the practice rather than simply move through it.
Our Recruitment Process
Finding the right person for our team is extremely important to us, so our recruitment process may be more thorough than a traditional single interview.
Shortlisted candidates may be invited to attend a Recruitment & Assessment Session at the practice.
This may include:
- A structured interview
- Practical dental reception scenarios
- Patient communication exercises
- Telephone scenarios
- Diary-management exercises
- A short written/email communication exercise
- Dentally or dental administration scenarios
- Team interaction
- An opportunity to meet us and learn more about the practice
This is not designed to catch candidates out.
A CV and a short interview do not always demonstrate how someone communicates with patients, organises their workload or responds to the realities of a busy reception.
It is also an opportunity for you to assess us and decide whether our practice is somewhere you can genuinely see yourself working long term.
Before You Apply
Please apply if you have taken the time to consider the position and are genuinely interested in becoming a long-term member of our team.
As part of your application, please answer the following:

2. What experience do you have using Dentally?

4. What do you think makes an excellent dental receptionist?
5. Why are you leaving, or why did you leave, your most recent position?
6. What are you hoping to find in your next dental practice?
7. Are you looking for a permanent position, and where would you ideally like to see yourself professionally in the next 2–3 years?
Please take the time to answer these questions properly. Applications that do not answer the requested questions may not be progressed.
We are looking for experience, but we are equally interested in attitude, reliability, warmth, judgement, professionalism and how you treat other people.
If you are an experienced dental receptionist who takes pride in their work, enjoys looking after patients and is looking for a practice where you can settle, contribute and develop, we would be very pleased to hear from you.
