Assistant Planner
The Assistant Planner supports the planning and delivery of construction projects by assisting in the development, maintenance, and reporting of project programmes. Working closely with the Planning team and wider project teams, the Assistant Planner helps ensure programmes are accurate, up to date and aligned with project objectives.
Job Description
The Assistant Planner shall:
Assist in the preparation, development and updating of project programmes.
Support the monitoring of project progress against planned activities and key milestones.
Maintain programme information, progress records and planning documentation.
Assist with the preparation of short-term and long-term look-ahead programmes.
Produce progress updates, reports and programme summaries as required.
Support planning meetings, workshops and project reviews.
Liaise with site teams, project managers and other stakeholders to obtain accurate progress information.
Assist in identifying programme risks and opportunities and support mitigation planning.
Help ensure programme information is communicated effectively across project teams.
Support the Planning team in the use and maintenance of planning software and project controls systems.
Personal Specification
Technical Competencies
Essential
Understanding of construction planning and project delivery principles.
Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Ability to interpret construction drawings, schedules and project information.
Relevant qualification in construction, engineering, project management or a related discipline.
Desirable
Experience using planning software such as Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject or Microsoft Project.
Previous experience within a construction or engineering environment.
Health & Safety
Essential
Understanding of the importance of health and safety in construction projects.
Commitment to supporting safe systems of work and project delivery.
