Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed Youth Work Assistant to work with our Youth Work Coordinator and wider team as we continue to offer a place for young people in Thirsk where they are seen, valued and supported to thrive. We currently offer 4 x weekly youth club sessions, homework clubs, and drop-ins. The ideal candidate will enjoy being with young people and have a genuine interest in their development.
Responsibilities
- Listen to and engage in conversation with young people
- Lead activities
- Provide appropriate support to children, offering guidance and encouragement, ensuring an inclusive environment for all participants
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a safe, supportive, and stimulating atmosphere.
- Promote healthy lifestyles and personal development
- Share ideas to help develop sessions and TYC generally
- Engage in the short de-brief meetings, which monitor and evaluate the sessions
Experience Any experience in youthwork, educational or mentoring roles would be helpful.
We are looking for:
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both children and adults. A sense of humour is helpful!
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and adaptability in a fast-paced environment.
- A light-touch ability to mentor/ inspire youth through various activities
