Role Overview
As a Steel Designer, you will produce detailed and accurate 2D and 3D drawings for structural and architectural metalwork projects. Working closely with the Lead and Advanced Designers, you will ensure designs meet client specs, fabrication needs, and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 2D & 3D drawings for steelwork, staircases, balustrades, and architectural features using CAD software such as Advance Steel or Tekla.
- Interpret architectural and structural drawings, engineers’ specs, and internal design briefs.
- Ensure designs are practical, buildable, and compliant with codes and Steel Build quality standards.
- Identify and escalate design clashes, missing info, or concerns to the Lead Designer.
- Prepare approval and fabrication drawings, material schedules, and connection details with clarity and accuracy.
- Liaise with production and fabrication teams to resolve technical queries.
- Support document control with correct versioning and file storage.
- Assist in improving design templates, processes, and checklists.
- Attend design reviews and project meetings as needed.
- Manage workload to meet project deadlines.
