Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and energetic School Transport Assistant to ensure the safe and efficient transportation of students to and from school. In this vital role, you will support students during their journey, assist with boarding and disembarking, and maintain a secure environment on the bus or transport vehicle. Duties
- Assist students with boarding, seating, and disembarking from school transport vehicles, ensuring safety at all times
- Support students with special needs or disabilities, providing gentle guidance and reassurance as needed
- Maintain a clean and organized vehicle environment, including securing seats and managing supplies
- Follow all safety protocols, including emergency procedures and first aid when necessary
- Communicate effectively with school staff, parents, and transportation coordinators regarding student needs or concerns
- Monitor student behavior during transit, promoting respectful conduct and addressing issues calmly
- Report any incidents or safety hazards promptly to supervisors for immediate action
Requirements
- Previous experience assisting children or in caregiving roles is highly desirable, especially with special needs or assisted living experience
- Knowledge of basic first aid and emergency response procedures
- Valid driving license with a clean record; ability to operate or assist with vehicle safety features
- Strong communication skills and patience when working with children or students requiring additional support
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as heavy lifting (e.g., assisting students with mobility aids) and maintaining a safe environment
- Flexibility to work early mornings, afternoons, or as per school schedules
- Commitment to safety standards, behavior management, and promoting a positive atmosphere during transit
