Customer Service Administrator
Location: Derby
Salary: £26,000 - £28,000
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
The Opportunity
We are recruiting a Customer Service Administrator for an established specialist engineering business based in Derby.
This is a busy and varied position combining customer service with administration and coordination. You will act as a key point of contact for customers, managing enquiries and ensuring information is communicated accurately between customers, engineers and internal departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Acting as a first point of contact for customer enquiries
- Managing incoming telephone calls and emails professionally
- Processing customer bookings, amendments and cancellations
- Responding to queries and providing customers with accurate updates
- Investigating complaints and working with internal teams to identify suitable solutions
- Coordinating schedules and making amendments when required
- Liaising with engineering, operational and administrative departments
- Maintaining accurate customer, job and project records
- Updating internal systems and databases
- Preparing correspondence and general documentation
- Monitoring outstanding enquiries and following up on agreed actions
- Ensuring customers receive a consistently high level of service
- Working towards quality, service and performance targets
- Following GDPR, confidentiality and company procedures
- Providing general administrative support to the wider business
- Supporting and training new team members when required
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Previous experience in customer service, administration, customer support or a similar role
- Experience working within a fast-paced environment
- A confident and professional telephone manner
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Experience managing complaints or challenging customer conversations
- Excellent organisation and time-management skills
- Strong attention to detail and accurate data-entry skills
- The ability to manage several enquiries and priorities at once
- Confidence using Microsoft Office and internal customer-management systems
- A good understanding of GDPR and confidentiality
- A calm, positive and solutions-focused approach
- The ability to build effective relationships with customers and colleagues
Previous experience within engineering, manufacturing, transport or another technical environment would be beneficial but is not essential.
