A highly regarded independent firm of Chartered Accountants in Plymouth is looking to recruit an experienced Accounts Manager / Client Manager to join its growing team.

Working closely with the Partners, you will manage your own portfolio of clients, oversee the delivery of accounts and tax services, support the development of junior team members, and provide commercially focused advice to clients.
The RoleAs an Accounts Manager / Client Manager, you will be responsible for managing client relationships while ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality accounting and taxation services. You will also play a key role in mentoring staff, reviewing work, and supporting the continued growth of the practice.
Key Responsibilities
- Managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses, SMEs, limited companies and partnerships
- Reviewing statutory accounts and corporation tax computations prior to Partner sign-off
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients, providing proactive accounting and business advice
- Building and maintaining long-term client relationships
- Supporting Partners with client meetings and business development opportunities
- Reviewing the work of junior staff and providing technical guidance
- Mentoring, coaching and developing members of the accounts team
- Leading annual performance reviews and supporting staff development plans
- Managing workflow to ensure client deadlines are consistently achieved
- Ensuring work is completed to a high technical and professional standard
Skills & Experience
- ACA or ACCA qualified (or qualified by experience)
- Significant experience within a UK accountancy practice
- Previous experience managing a client portfolio
- Strong knowledge of statutory accounts, corporation tax and general practice compliance
- Experience supervising, mentoring and developing junior staff
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills
- Commercially aware with a proactive approach to client service
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
