About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Registered Manager to lead a new Children's Residential Home in Birmingham supporting up to two children aged 8–17 years.
This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to play a key role in establishing and developing a high-quality home that delivers outstanding care and positive outcomes for children and young people.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring compliance with Ofsted regulations and maintaining the highest standards of safeguarding, care, and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Register with Ofsted as the Registered Manager.
- Lead and manage the children's home in accordance with Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Develop and maintain a positive, nurturing, and child-centred culture.
- Recruit, supervise, train, and develop staff.
- Ensure robust safeguarding practices are implemented at all times.
- Manage care planning, risk assessments, and placement matching.
- Maintain compliance with Ofsted requirements and statutory regulations.
- Monitor and improve service quality through audits and quality assurance processes.
- Build positive relationships with local authorities, social workers, families, and external professionals.
- Manage budgets and resources effectively.
Essential Requirements
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
- Minimum 2 years' experience within the last 5 years in a residential childcare setting at a senior level.
- Strong knowledge of Ofsted registration requirements.
- Experience of Children's Homes Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards.
- Experience in opening or supporting the registration of a children's home is highly desirable.
- Excellent leadership and organisational skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Enhanced DBS check.
Desirable
- Previous experience successfully registering a new children's home with Ofsted.
- Experience achieving Good or Outstanding Ofsted ratings.
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and compliance requirements.
