Sous Chef – The Pembroke Arms, Wilton
The Pembroke Arms sits right in the heart of Wilton. Nine bedrooms upstairs, a proper bar and dining room downstairs, and a great garden outside. There's no fuss to the place — the Monday quiz is iconic, plus a garden for the warmer month. It feels like Wilton's living room, and we like it that way.
Food sits at the heart of everything we do. We cook with the seasons, work closely with local suppliers, and let great produce lead the menu. We keep things simple, make as much as we can from scratch and believe brilliant ingredients don't need unnecessary fuss.
We're looking for a Sous Chef who leads by example, sets high standards, and collaborates with the Head Chef to create a kitchen where people can thrive. Our food ethos is shaped collaboratively by the kitchen teams across the group, so your role is to help deliver it brilliantly, service after service, while contributing to an environment where people can develop and do their best work.
The good stuff –
· Flexible working patterns and paid overtime.
· Uniform is provided and laundered.
· You eat from the menu if you work six hours.
· Enjoy 50% off food at any of our pubs (Monday-Thursday).
· £100 voucher on your Birthday to spend at any of our places.
· Each month there are rewards and giveaways.
· We mark length of service.
· 24/7 support available for your mental, physical and financial health.
· We host the Annual Chickpea Awards Bash, to celebrate our teams.
· Team trips and away days.
· Clear promotion pathways.
· Training programmes built around you.
Our mission –
At Chickpea, we're reimagining rural hospitality.
That means bringing well-loved pubs back to life, serving honest food and decent booze, and creating places where locals, regulars and visitors all feel at home.
We're founder-owned and seven years in. Today, we run ten pubs across the Southwest, but the idea hasn't changed much since day one. Great pubs are built by great people. We trust our people to make decisions, giving them room to grow, celebrating the good days and backing each other through the chaotic ones too.
As Sous Chef, you will:
- Support the Head Chef in leading the kitchen.
- Help deliver seasonal, locally sourced food made from scratch.
- Maintain high food quality and kitchen standards.
- Train, mentor, and motivate the team.
- Ensure smooth service and contribute ideas to menu development.
- Help create a positive, collaborative working environment.
