Team / Division overview
The DWS Alternatives business is a diversified set of business activities with approximately EUR 130bn in assets under management in strategies including Private Real Estate, Private Infrastructure, Private Credit, Liquid Real Assets (Real Estate/Infrastructure and Commodity Securities) and Sustainable Investments. The global team invests on behalf of a global client base that includes governments, corporations, institutional investors, as well as a growing UNHW investor group.
Private Credit is a key growth pillar of the EUR 115bn DWS Alternatives franchise. The Private Credit platform aims to build diversified portfolios across asset-based finance, direct lending, and structured credit to deliver attractive risk-adjusted returns with a focus on capital preservation to a broad spectrum of investors including governments, corporations, insurance companies and private clients.
As part of the Private Market Solutions Strategy, you will be at the heart of a strategic initiative in
Germany/Europe, leveraging your expertise in multi-asset management to provide tailored investment solutions to our investors.
Your responsibilities
As the Senior Principal for Credit Opportunities you will be responsible for:
Select investment opportunities (i.e. potential voting member of investment committee) for private markets solutions mandates and prepare/co-ordinate investment committees and related materials in that context.
Confer with clients on deal opportunities (and any adjustments to the investment scope / strategy) and coordinate the investment process as laid out in the framework agreement (i.e. veto rights / deal memos etc.)
Co-ordinate the origination efforts of investment opportunities for Private Market Solutions mandates across both Deutsche Bank (Investment Bank and Corporate Bank) and DWS.
Originate investment opportunities that suit the investment strategies of private markets solutions mandates but are otherwise outside the scope of investment strategies and mandates advised by DWS (e.g. opportunistic credit and/or capital solutions opportunities).
For such type of transactions, as well as transactions sourced / originated from Deutsche Bank:
Oversee the performance of detailed comprehensive due diligence to assess the (credit) quality of potential transactions, including financial, commercial, technical, legal and/or tax analysis of investee companies and contemplated transaction structures.
Oversee development and utilisation of complex financial models to project expected investment performance and assess potential risks and scenarios.
Oversee / lead the preparation of investment committee memoranda and other documentation for Investment Committees, that provide accurate and concise underrating analysis and investment recommendations as well as presenting transactions in ICs.
Oversee the negotiation of documentation and deal-execution.
Oversee investment monitoring and sector trends to support ongoing portfolio management.
Ensure regulatory compliance by staying updated on relevant regulations and ensure compliance with internal guidelines, investment guidelines, investor requirements, fiduciary obligations and other external guidelines throughout the underwriting process.
Liaise with the relevant service providers to ensure all regulatory, governance and legal requirements are met.
Work with partners across Deutsche Bank and within DWS, including Product and Corporate Functions to design and manufacture solutions and products that meet the demands of clients across multiple channels.
Act as a Private Markets Solutions SME to support fundraising strategies through partnerships with the relevant client coverage and product teams.
Be responsible for portfolio management and reporting of investment reporting to Private Market Solutions mandates.
Report on key topics to Senior Management, while maintaining excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders relevant to the Private Credit & Private Market Solutions business.
We are looking for:
Proven experience of Private Credit and multi-asset mandates, gained at a credit fund, commercial or investment bank, hedge fund or mezzanine fund.
Extensive experience of investment and origination capabilities to deliver growth against a multi-asset strategy.
Experience of working collaboratively across different business units to execute against agreed targets and ensure that offerings are best suited to clients across multiple channels.
Proven experience of building and managing a team; defining appropriate team structures to ensure that performance and risk monitoring are in place and that accountability and lines of authority are clearly defined.
Contributing to the production of materials for RFP and marketing/fundraising activities
Experience of producing credit investment proposals and supporting documentation for Investment Committees.
Experience of managing relationships with a complex client base, to help retention of existing and growth of new clients.
Experience of effectively managing risk controls within an investment environment, with sound experience around the fiduciary duty of care and diligence.
Educated to degree level in a Finance related discipline from an accredited college or university (or equivalent) or an acceptable level of industry experience.
Fluent in German and English (written and spoken) is essential.
