About the Role: Alloa is at the heart of Scotland’s central logistics network, and at Solsona Logistics & Distribution Ltd, we take pride in keeping goods moving efficiently, reliably, and on schedule. We provide dependable logistics and distribution solutions for businesses that expect accuracy, responsiveness, and operational excellence.
We are looking for a Senior Operations Manager who can take ownership of our day-to-day logistics operations and help drive the next stage of our growth. You will oversee operational performance across warehousing, transportation, distribution, and customer fulfilment while working closely with a talented team of logistics professionals.
You will be responsible for turning operational targets into practical results. From improving delivery performance to strengthening warehouse processes, you will be a key contributor to how we serve customers and manage our expanding operations.
Why Work With Us?
The Environment: Our Alloa operation provides a practical and collaborative working environment where teams work closely across logistics, warehousing, transport, and customer service.
Operational Excellence: We are committed to efficient processes, accurate inventory management, reliable delivery schedules, and consistently high service standards. Your ideas will have a direct impact on how we operate.
Modern Operations: We use digital systems for transport planning, inventory visibility, order management, performance reporting, and operational monitoring. We encourage data driven decision making at every level.
Growth: As the business continues to develop, you will have opportunities to improve processes, introduce new operational practices, develop team capability, and contribute to wider business improvement projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Management: Oversee daily logistics, warehouse, transport, and distribution activities to ensure customer requirements and operational targets are consistently achieved.
Performance Improvement: Monitor key performance indicators including delivery performance, order accuracy, warehouse productivity, inventory accuracy, and operating costs. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
Team Leadership: Lead, support, and develop supervisors and operational teams. Set clear expectations, provide regular feedback, and promote a strong culture of accountability and teamwork.
Transport Coordination: Work closely with transport teams and external logistics partners to improve route planning, delivery schedules, fleet utilisation, and overall service reliability.
Warehouse Operations: Ensure effective receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch, and inventory control processes while maintaining high standards of safety and accuracy.
Customer Service: Partner with customer service and commercial teams to resolve operational issues, manage service expectations, and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
Process Improvement: Identify operational inefficiencies and implement practical improvements that increase productivity, reduce unnecessary costs, and improve customer outcomes.
Reporting and Compliance: Prepare operational reports for senior management and ensure logistics activities comply with company procedures, health and safety requirements, and relevant UK regulations.
What We Are Looking For:
Experience: 6+ years of experience in logistics, distribution, warehousing, transport, supply chain, or a closely related operational environment, with previous experience managing teams or significant operational functions.
Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead operational teams, develop supervisors, manage performance, and create a positive and accountable workplace culture.
Logistics Knowledge: Strong understanding of warehouse operations, transport coordination, inventory management, distribution processes, and supply chain performance.
Commercial Awareness: Comfortable monitoring operational costs, analysing performance data, identifying efficiencies, and balancing service quality with commercial objectives.
Technology: Confident using warehouse management systems, transport management systems, Microsoft Excel, reporting platforms, and other digital tools used to monitor operational performance.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with warehouse teams, drivers, suppliers, customers, and senior stakeholders.
Mindset: You are practical, organised, and solutions focused. You enjoy solving operational challenges, developing people, and finding better ways to move products safely, efficiently, and reliably.
