Practical Skills Trainer
Salary: £24,500–£27,500 per year
Community Trade Hub is looking for a confident and enthusiastic Practical Skills Trainer to join our team, supporting young people through hands-on, practical learning.
The role involves working directly with young people who benefit from an alternative approach to education, helping them build practical skills, confidence, teamwork and skills for life.
We are looking for someone with practical trade experience who is comfortable demonstrating and supporting a range of hands-on activities. Experience may include areas such as joinery, basic plumbing, painting and decorating, tiling, general maintenance or similar practical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging, hands-on practical sessions for young people.
- Demonstrate practical trade skills safely and clearly.
- Support young people to develop confidence, teamwork and employability skills.
- Encourage participation and create a positive, supportive learning environment.
- Adapt activities to suit different abilities and individual needs.
- Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment.
- Work alongside the wider Community Trade Hub team to support positive outcomes for young people.
- Follow all relevant health and safety and safeguarding procedures.
What We’re Looking For
- Practical experience within a trade or hands-on working environment.
- Confidence demonstrating a range of practical skills.
- Good communication and people skills.
- Patient, approachable and able to build positive relationships with young people.
- Reliable and able to work effectively as part of a team.
- A genuine interest in helping young people develop their skills and confidence.
- An understanding of health and safety within a practical working environment.
Experience working with young people would be beneficial, but practical experience, the right attitude and the ability to engage and support young people are particularly important to us.
