Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Part-time HGV Instructor to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality training to aspiring HGV drivers, ensuring they acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to operate commercial vehicles safely and efficiently. This role offers flexible hours suitable for individuals with existing commitments, and provides an opportunity to share your expertise in a professional environment. The ideal applicant will have practical experience in commercial driving, excellent communication skills, and a passion for teaching others.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive HGV driving lessons to trainee drivers, focusing on safety, manoeuvring, and road regulations.
- Assess learners’ progress and provide constructive feedback to facilitate their development.
- Prepare training programmes tailored to individual needs and skill levels.
- Ensure all training sessions comply with current health and safety standards and legal requirements.
- Maintain accurate records of training activities, assessments, and learner progress.
- Assist learners with understanding vehicle controls, mechanical aspects, and operational procedures.
- Promote safe driving practices and emphasise the importance of vehicle maintenance and mechanical knowledge.
- Support learners in developing confidence with flatbed operations and warehouse procedures where applicable.
Experience
- Proven experience in commercial driving, including delivery driver roles or similar positions involving extensive vehicle operation.
- Practical knowledge related to HGV
- Familiarity with driving regulations specific to <PERSON> drivers or similar licensing requirements.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to instruct and motivate learners effectively.
- Prior experience in training or instructing drivers is advantageous but not essential; relevant industry experience will be considered.
