Reports to: Maintenance Manager
Job Summary:
The mechanical maintenance team leader will be responsible for the safety and performance of the maintenance team, ensuring that the is team are supported and empowered to support the day-to-day factory activities. The team leader will be proactive and ‘hands on’ in all maintenance activity setting the culture for planned and unplanned tasks. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the team leader will be responsible for the daily and weekly performance of all the people within the department.
Main responsibilities:
- To ensure that all company Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to and as a team leader you lead by example to maintain the highest standards
- Lead safety risk assessments to ensure that all team members adhere to all department activities safely and efficiently whilst ensuring that downtime is kept to a minimum
- Take responsibility for ensuring that standards of performance and targets are achieved on a daily and weekly basis
- Ensure that the team completes their job reports on MaintMaster once a job has been completed
- Ensure that you are there to support and guide your team in closing out factory breakdowns
- Train and mentor team members to enhance skills and knowledge in mechanical maintenance.
- Assist with the organisation of spares parts, critical assets and consumables
- Support and encourage a culture of engagement, commitment and flexibility within the team
· Support the with implementing and developing a PPM schedule
- Assist with the development of a ‘continuous improvement’ culture within the team, through team involvement and participation in projects and root cause analysis
- Make sure all communication lines with our internal customers are clear and consistent maintaining regular dialogue
· Contribute to the development of a ‘behavioural safety’ culture by ensuring the team record all accidents and near misses
· Assist with external contractors and providers/suppliers of maintenance equipment, products or services
- Assist with managing contactors on site ensuring they adhere to all site policies and procedures
- Assist and stand in for the Maintenance manager when required
- Any other duties may be required from time to time as requested by your manager
Qualifications required:
- Completed a Mechanical Maintenance/Engineering apprenticeship.
- Qualified to NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
- IOSH or similar health and safety qualification
The ideal candidate:
· Experience working within a heavy industrial manufacturing/processing industry
· Strong mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic system knowledge, with an understanding of electrical systems
· Proven experience supervising/leading/managing a team
· Confidence and ability to challenge people appropriately for job completion and quality of completion
· Strong communication skills, with a positive and proactive attitude
· Good organisational skills
· Willing to provide availability for on-call duties and overtime as necessary
Hours 7 - 5 - Monday to Friday with Saturday on a rota basis and call out on rota basis.
Pay: £45,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
