About the Role
SureCare Calderdale and Kirklees is looking for compassionate, reliable and motivated Home Care Assistants to support individuals in their own homes across Halifax and Huddersfield.
You will provide high quality, person-centred care that helps individuals remain safe, comfortable and independent. This is a rewarding community based role where you can make a genuine difference to people’s daily lives.
Previous care experience is welcomed but not essential, as full induction, training and support will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Support individuals with personal care, including washing, dressing, grooming and toileting.
- Assist with medication in line with training, care plans and company procedures.
- Support safe mobility and the correct use of equipment.
- Prepare meals and encourage good nutrition and hydration.
- Provide companionship, emotional support and reassurance.
- Encourage individuals to remain independent and involved in decisions about their care.
- Support with shopping, appointments, household tasks and community activities where required.
- Recognise and report changes in health, wellbeing or behaviour.
- Complete accurate and timely electronic care records.
- Follow care plans, risk assessments, safeguarding procedures and professional boundaries.
- Travel between individuals’ homes across Halifax and Huddersfield.
Essential Requirements
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Access to your own suitable vehicle.
- Right to work in the UK.
- A caring, patient and respectful approach.
- Good communication and listening skills.
- Reliability, flexibility and good timekeeping.
- Confidence working independently in the community.
- Ability to use a mobile care application and maintain accurate records.
- Willingness to complete all required training and competency assessments.
- Availability to work some evenings, weekends and bank holidays according to service requirements.
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
- Previous experience in domiciliary care, supported living, outreach support or another health and social care setting.
- Care Certificate or Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Health and Social Care.
- Experience supporting adults with dementia, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, mental health needs or complex care requirements.
- Understanding of safeguarding, consent, confidentiality and the Mental Capacity Act 2005.

Additional Information
This is a community based position involving regular travel between individuals’ homes. Applicants must therefore hold a full UK Driving Licence and have access to their own vehicle.
