Job Summary
We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Van Driver / Yard Operative to join our busy transport operation based out of our Brentwood depot.
This is a varied and hands-on role that combines driving duties with responsibility for helping manage and maintain a fast-paced transport yard. The successful candidate will be someone who takes pride in their work, shows initiative, and is comfortable taking ownership of daily depot operations.
This role will involve an element of London driving. It's essential that this isn't an issue. It's also essential that you're comfortable with days of being at the depot all day, driving all day or a mixture of both. This can and will vary day to day.

Duties
- Safely operate a commercial van for local deliveries, ensuring timely and accurate transportation of goods
- Load and unload items, often involving heavy lifting, in accordance with health and safety guidelines
- Assist with yard operations including organising stock, moving materials, and maintaining cleanliness of the area
- Taking full responsibility and ownership of yard organisation and presentation
- Communicate effectively with team members and clients to coordinate delivery schedules and resolve any issues promptly
- Conduct routine vehicle inspections before and after shifts to ensure safety standards are met
- Follow all traffic laws and company policies during deliveries and yard activities
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, pickups, and inventory movements
Experience
- Previous experience as a delivery driver or in a similar commercial driving role is preferred
- Proven experience operating vans or lorries within a professional setting
- Warehouse experience is advantageous, especially involving heavy lifting and material handling
- Strong communication skills to liaise effectively with colleagues and clients
- Valid driver’s licence suitable for driving commercial vehicles is essential
- Knowledge of local routes and traffic regulations within the area is desirable

Working Pattern: Monday to Friday
Start Times:
Hours: 45 hours per week inc. 1-hour unpaid lunch break – Start times between 5:00am and 8:00am depending on operational requirements
Salary: £30,000 per annum / £14.42 per hour Overtime: £18 per hour. Calculated monthly when monthly hours exceeded.
Pay: £30,000.00 per year
