We’re looking for a detail-oriented Purchasing Assistant to join our team. This is a key support role in our purchasing and supply chain function—ideal for someone looking to grow their skills in a commercial setting. You’ll handle a mix of day-to-day purchasing tasks such as raising orders, receipting goods, liaising with suppliers, and supporting stock control. You’ll also play a key role in Product Information Management, ensuring specifications, pricing, and supplier data are kept accurate and up to date. While experience in purchasing, supply chain, or admin is a bonus, we’re open to candidates from varied backgrounds. Strong organisation, accuracy, and clear communication are what matter most.
What the role involves:
- Raising and tracking purchase orders using Microsoft Dynamics 365
- Liaising with suppliers regarding orders, pricing and delivery dates
- Resolving delivery, pricing and invoice queries
- Maintaining accurate product, supplier and pricing information
- Receipting goods and updating purchasing records
- Liaising with Team Leaders to help maintain suitable stock levels for production
- Assisting the Group Purchasing Manager with developing the stock management system
- Supporting stock management and replenishment planning
- Helping with stock counts, stock transfers and investigating discrepancies
- Researching products and alternative suppliers
- Supporting continuous improvement projects
We’re looking for someone who:
- Is a recent graduate or early-career candidate interested in purchasing, supply chain and stock management
- Is organised, accurate and pays close attention to detail
- Has good numerical and analytical skills
- Communicates confidently with suppliers and colleagues
- Can manage multiple tasks and prioritise their workload
- Is comfortable using Excel, Outlook and other Microsoft Office applications
- Has a proactive approach and enjoys improving processes
- Is keen to learn about manufacturing and stock control
- Ideally has experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 or a similar system, although training will be provided
- May have a relevant degree or CIPS qualification, although neither is essential
Previous experience in purchasing, supply chain or administration would be helpful, but we welcome applications from candidates with varied backgrounds who can demonstrate the right skills and attitude.
