About Daisy Inclusive UK
Daisy Inclusive UK is a disability-led charity supporting disabled and vulnerable people and their families to reach their true potential.
Through our SMILE (Self-Motivation, Inclusive Learning & Empowerment) and Mini-SMILE programmes, we provide safe, inclusive and engaging opportunities for disabled children, young people and adults to develop confidence, independence, friendships, life skills and wellbeing.
About the Role
We are looking for two enthusiastic, caring and reliable Support Workers to join our Mini-SMILE & SMILE team, working with disabled children, young people and adults.
These are hands-on roles for people who are outgoing, positive and passionate about inclusion. You will work alongside our Coordinator and wider team to deliver activities and provide person-centred support, helping beneficiaries to participate, develop new skills, build friendships and increase their confidence and independence.
We want people who are willing to get stuck in – whether that's joining in with sports and games, creative activities, cooking and life skills, supporting trips and outings or simply helping someone feel comfortable and included.
The roles require some flexibility in working hours, including after-school delivery during term time and daytime delivery during school holidays.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the delivery of our SMILE and Mini-SMILE programmes.
- Provide safe, person-centred support to disabled children, young people and adults.
- Actively participate in and help deliver inclusive activities, including sports, games, creative activities and life-skills sessions.
- Support beneficiaries with a range of disabilities across the spectrum.
- Adapt support and activities to individual needs, abilities and interests.
- Encourage participation, confidence, independence, friendships and social inclusion.
- Provide individual support where required.
- Build positive and respectful relationships with beneficiaries, parents, carers and families.
- Support trips, outings, events and community activities.
- Work closely with the Coordinator, other staff and volunteers.
- Follow safeguarding, health and safety, risk assessment and organisational procedures.
- Help maintain a safe, welcoming, positive and inclusive environment.
Person Specification
We are looking for people who can demonstrate:
- Experience of working with disabled children, young people and/or adults, or other relevant care, support, education or community experience.
- A caring, patient and person-centred approach.
- The ability to communicate effectively with people with different needs and abilities.
- An understanding of safeguarding and the importance of maintaining professional boundaries.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Reliability, flexibility and a responsible approach to work.
- Confidence in supporting people to participate and try new experiences.
- The ability to remain calm and supportive in challenging situations.
- An outgoing, positive and enthusiastic personality.
- A genuine commitment to disability inclusion.
- A willingness to be hands-on, join in and get involved.
A relevant qualification in Health & Social Care, Childcare, Playwork, Youth Work, Education, SEND or a related field would be advantageous, although relevant experience and the right skills and attitude will also be considered.
The successful applicants will be subject to an Enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references.
