The Manager – International Business Development (UK Market) will be responsible for driving business growth, developing strategic partnerships, expanding market presence, and managing commercial operations for the UK pharmaceutical market. The incumbent will identify new business opportunities, manage key customer relationships, negotiate commercial agreements, support regulatory compliance, and contribute to the overall profitability and strategic growth of the UK business.
The role requires a strong understanding of the UK pharmaceutical landscape, including generic pharmaceuticals, NHS procurement channels, distributors, pharmacy chains, wholesalers, institutional customers, and regulatory requirements governed by the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).

Key Responsibilities
1. Business Development & Sales
Business Development
- Identify, evaluate, and develop new business opportunities within the UK pharmaceutical market.
- Generate leads and establish relationships with distributors, wholesalers, pharmacy chains, buying groups, NHS-related procurement agencies, hospitals, healthcare organizations, and e-pharmacy platforms.
- Develop and execute market entry, expansion, and growth strategies for pharmaceutical products.
- Drive revenue growth and achieve annual sales and profitability targets.
- Identify opportunities for portfolio expansion and introduction of new products in the UK market.
- Develop strategies to increase market share and strengthen the company's competitive position.
Sales & Commercial Management
- Manage pricing strategies, commercial negotiations, and contract finalization with customers and business partners.
- Monitor product performance, sales trends, and profitability across assigned accounts.
- Support commercial decision-making through market intelligence and customer insights.
- Ensure achievement of sales budgets, contribution margins, and revenue targets.
2. Client & Partner Management
- Manage and strengthen relationships with existing distributors, wholesalers, and strategic customers.
- Conduct regular business reviews with key accounts and channel partners.
- Identify opportunities for business expansion within existing customer portfolios.
- Negotiate commercial terms, pricing agreements, supply arrangements, and long-term contracts.
- Resolve customer concerns and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Build long-term strategic partnerships that support sustainable business growth.
3. Market Intelligence & Analysis
- Monitor UK pharmaceutical market trends, competitor activities, pricing movements, reimbursement dynamics, and regulatory developments.
- Conduct market research to identify new product opportunities, therapeutic segments, and growth areas.
- Analyze market demand, customer requirements, and competitive positioning.
- Prepare detailed market intelligence reports and business recommendations for management review.
- Evaluate emerging opportunities for product launches, licensing, acquisitions, and strategic partnerships.
4. Regulatory & Compliance Coordination
- Coordinate with Regulatory Affairs teams regarding product registrations, renewals, variations, and compliance requirements.
- Ensure all business activities comply with MHRA regulations and applicable UK pharmaceutical laws and guidelines.
- Support product launch activities while ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Pharmacovigilance teams to maintain compliance standards.
- Ensure adherence to Good Distribution Practices (GDP) and other applicable regulatory requirements.
5. Strategic Planning & Portfolio Development
- Develop annual business plans, sales forecasts, and growth strategies for the UK market.
- Identify opportunities for licensing, contract manufacturing, strategic alliances, and market partnerships.
- Support portfolio expansion initiatives through market analysis and business case development.
- Contribute to long-term strategic planning and market development initiatives.
- Support profitability improvement initiatives through pricing optimization and portfolio management.
6. Tender & Institutional Business Management
- Identify and evaluate NHS, institutional, hospital, and public-sector tender opportunities.
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to prepare competitive tender submissions.
- Support pricing strategies and commercial proposals for institutional business.
- Monitor tender outcomes and develop strategies to improve win rates.
7. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Regulatory Affairs, Supply Chain, Quality Assurance, Finance, Marketing, Production, and Corporate Management teams.
- Coordinate demand forecasting and inventory planning for UK customers.
- Ensure smooth execution of customer orders and supply commitments.
- Support product launches, promotional activities, and customer engagement initiatives.
- Facilitate effective communication between internal and external stakeholders.
8. Reporting & Documentation
- Prepare monthly sales reports, business forecasts, pipeline reviews, and management updates.
- Monitor and report key business metrics, revenue performance, profitability, and customer trends.
- Maintain accurate CRM records and customer databases.
- Prepare presentations and business reviews for senior management.
- Ensure timely submission of reports and compliance documentation.

Required Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in pharmacy, Life Sciences, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
- MBA in International Business, Marketing, Pharmaceutical Management, or equivalent qualification preferred.
- 7–12 years of experience in international pharmaceutical business development and export sales.
- Minimum 3–5 years of direct experience handling the UK pharmaceutical market.
- Strong understanding of generic pharmaceuticals, branded generics, and pharmaceutical distribution channels in the UK.
- Knowledge of NHS procurement processes, MHRA regulations, market access requirements, and UK pharmaceutical compliance frameworks.
- Proven track record of achieving business growth, customer acquisition, and strategic partnership development.
- Experience in licensing, contract manufacturing, and international business negotiations will be an added advantage.
- Proficiency in CRM systems, sales forecasting, and business analytics tools.
Travel & Mobility
- Willingness to undertake regular international travel for customer meetings, business development activities, exhibitions, conferences, and partner reviews.
- Ready to relocate to the United Kingdom, if required by business needs.
Pay: £3,000.00-£3,500.22 per month
