Freelance Landscape Clerk of Works (LCoW)

About the Role
Hickton Quality Control are looking to connect with experienced Landscape Clerks of Works (LCoW) / Landscape Architects for freelance opportunities across London.
We are looking for someone with a strong background in landscape architecture, landscape construction and site inspection, who can provide independent quality assurance and ensure works are delivered in accordance with the specification, drawings and required standards.
This is an opportunity to work on a freelance basis with a leading UK quality inspection consultancy, supporting the delivery of high-quality construction and landscaping projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake regular site inspections of landscape works.
- Monitor the quality and progress of landscape construction works.
- Inspect hard and soft landscaping, including planting, paving, external works and associated landscape elements.
- Ensure works are being completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and contract requirements.
- Identify defects, workmanship issues and areas of non-compliance.
- Record and report site observations and inspection findings.
- Monitor the use and quality of materials and workmanship.
- Liaise with contractors, site teams, project managers and other professionals where required.
- Provide clear photographic and written reports.
- Monitor remedial works and ensure identified defects are appropriately addressed.
- Maintain accurate inspection records throughout the project.
- Raise any concerns regarding quality, programme or compliance at the appropriate stage.
About You
We are interested in speaking with candidates who have experience as a:
- Landscape Clerk of Works
- Landscape Architect
- Landscape Inspector
- Landscape Consultant
- Landscape Quality Inspector
- Landscape Site Inspector
Ideally, you will have:
- Experience inspecting landscape construction works on live projects.
- A strong understanding of landscape construction, materials and workmanship.
- Experience with both hard and/or soft landscaping.
- The ability to interpret landscape drawings, specifications and contract documentation.
- Strong attention to detail and a quality-focused approach.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to work independently and manage your own inspections.
- Relevant professional qualifications or membership are desirable.
