We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Chef to join the team at Croxteth Park Care Home, supporting 42 residents. The ideal candidate will have experience in preparing nutritious, high-quality meals in a care setting, strong organisational skills, and the ability to lead a small kitchen team. This role offers an opportunity to ensure that residents receive meals that are not only safe and healthy but also enjoyable, meeting their individual dietary needs and preferences.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise kitchen staff to ensure timely and safe meal preparation for all residents.
- Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious meals in line with dietary requirements, including allergies, medical conditions, and cultural preferences.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, ensuring hygiene, food safety, and presentation standards are maintained.
- Develop menus in collaboration with management and dietitian guidance, incorporating seasonal and resident-preferred foods.
- Manage stock levels, order supplies, and control food costs efficiently.
- Train and support kitchen staff to maintain high standards of meal preparation and service.
- Ensure the kitchen and dining areas are clean, organised, and compliant with food safety regulations.
- Engage with residents to gather feedback on meals and make adjustments where possible to improve satisfaction.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a chef or cook, ideally within a care home, residential setting, or hospitality environment.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in hygiene standards.
- Ability to manage dietary requirements and special needs of residents.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Leadership skills to motivate and support a small kitchen team.
- Creativity in menu planning and food presentation.
- Compassionate and resident-focused, with attention to quality, taste, and nutrition.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
