Retail Sales Executive — The Ilkley Flooring Company

Salary: £30,000–£37,500 per year, plus performance-based bonus
About Us
The Ilkley Flooring Company brings over 27 years of flooring expertise to a fresh, independent showroom that opened in Ilkley in May 2025. In just over a year we have grown quickly and built a loyal customer base across the local area. We are now looking for a motivated and ambitious Retail Sales Executive to help take the business to the next level, working closely with our two owners as a key part of a small, hands-on team.
The Role
This is a varied, customer-facing role within a friendly, independent showroom where you will take real ownership of day-to-day operations. You will work directly with the owners and have the chance to make the role your own as the business continues to grow.
Key responsibilities:
- Advising customers on carpets and flooring products in the showroom and over the phone
- Assisting customers face-to-face, by phone, and through digital channels
- Taking measurements and helping cost up projects
- Processing orders and handling invoicing
- Promoting and selling our full product range
- Taking ownership of the showroom and helping it run smoothly day to day
Working pattern: Saturday work is required as part of a rota. The showroom is closed Sundays and Mondays.
About You
We are looking for someone who is confident, driven, and passionate about delivering outstanding customer service. The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience in a sales or customer-facing role (at least 1 year of customer service experience preferred)
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- The ability to understand customer needs and recommend the right solutions
- Confidence working in a fast-paced, growing business
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office and email
- A flexible, proactive attitude and a willingness to take initiative
A driving licence is preferred. Prior flooring or interiors experience is a bonus but not essential — full product training will be provided.
