We are looking for an experienced and motivated HR Advisor to join our HR Advisory Team. This is an exciting opportunity for a CIPD-qualified HR professional, or someone with substantial HR advisory experience, to provide high-quality, business-focused HR support across a diverse range of services, schools, and external customers.
Working as part of a professional HR team, you will advise managers on complex employee relations matters, support organisational change projects, develop policies, and contribute to the delivery of an efficient and customer-focused HR service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide professional HR advice and support on employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, capability, attendance management, and performance issues
- Support managers through formal meetings, hearings, and organisational change processes attending as a HR representative
- Lead on support to Directorates for restructuring, redundancy, and TUPE projects across the Council
- Support the development and review of HR policies, procedures, and guidance in line with employment legislation and best practice.
- Build effective relationships with managers, schools, trade unions, and key stakeholders
- Deliver training, workshops, and coaching to improve people management capability
- Use workforce data and analytics to support workforce planning and service improvement
- Keep up to date of developments in employment law and HR practice, ensuring advice remains accurate
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- CIPD Level 5 qualification (or equivalent) or significant demonstrable experience working in an HR Advisor role
- Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practice
- Experience managing complex employee relations casework
- Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills
- Experience supporting organisational change, including restructures, redundancies, and TUPE transfers
- The ability to analyse workforce data and provide practical business-focused solutions
- A proactive, customer-focused approach and the ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team environment
