The Role
As our Site Maintenance & Operations Operative, you will be responsible for the day-to-day maintenance, repair and presentation of our storage facility.
Working alongside the Customer & Operations Administration team, you will ensure the site remains safe, secure, clean and operational at all times. You will identify maintenance issues before they become problems, carry out repairs, coordinate specialist contractors where required, and help maintain the high standards our customers expect.
Success in this role requires a collaborative approach. We are a small team where every member plays an important part in the success of the business. Flexibility, teamwork and a willingness to support colleagues are essential. Whilst you will have primary responsibilities, no task is considered beneath anyone, and we work together to deliver an exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities
Site Maintenance
- Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across the site.
- Diagnose faults and complete repairs safely and efficiently.
- Maintain buildings, fencing, gates, hardstanding, drainage and external areas.
- Carry out painting, carpentry and general repairs.
- Maintain the appearance and cleanliness of the site to a high standard.
- Operate and maintain maintenance equipment safely.
Facilities & Compliance
- Complete regular site inspections and identify maintenance requirements.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with health and safety legislation.
- Maintain maintenance records and inspection logs.
- Assist with contractor supervision and site inductions.
- Support routine testing and compliance checks.
Security & Operations
- Assist with opening and closing the site.
- Support access control procedures.
- Monitor and report any security concerns.
- Assist with CCTV checks and routine security inspections.
- Respond promptly to maintenance issues that could affect security or customer safety.
Team Support
- Work closely with the administration team to resolve customer maintenance requests.
- Support colleagues during busy periods.
- Assist with general operational activities when required.
- Represent the business professionally when interacting with customers and contractors.

Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in a property maintenance, facilities maintenance, building maintenance or site maintenance role.
- Experience carrying out a wide range of general maintenance and repair work.
- Good knowledge of health and safety practices.
- Ability to work independently and prioritise workloads.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Right to work in the United Kingdom.
Essential Skills
The successful candidate must be competent in several of the following:
- General building maintenance.
- Carpentry and joinery repairs.
- Basic plumbing repairs.
- Basic electrical maintenance (non-qualified works only).
- Painting and decorating.
- Fence and gate repairs.
- Grounds maintenance.
- Use of power tools and maintenance equipment.
- Basic fault-finding and problem-solving.
Desirable Qualifications
- Trade qualification (City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent).
- IOSH Working Safely or similar.
- First Aid at Work qualification.
- MEWP, forklift or plant operator experience.
- Experience working in a secure environment.
