We are an extremely well respected fireplace design and installation company, established in Leeds for over 40 years . We are based in Headingley Leeds 6 .Join our dynamic team as an Apprentice Gas Engineer and Fireplace Installer. This paid apprenticeship offers a fantastic opportunity to develop practical skills, gain valuable industry experience, and work alongside experienced professionals in a supportive environment. Your role will be vital in ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality installation and maintenance of gas-powered fireplaces and related systems.
Pay whilst employed as an apprentice will be in line with rates published by the government and dependent on age .
Duties
- Assist with the installation, servicing, and repair of gas appliances and fireplaces in residential and commercial settings
- Learn to safely handle and operate hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and plumbing fixtures required for installations
- Support the assembly of fireplace units and related components according to technical specifications
- Conduct basic measurements and calculations to ensure precise fitting and alignment of equipment
- Help with heavy lifting of materials and equipment to ensure smooth workflow on-site
- Follow safety protocols rigorously during all phases of installation and maintenance work
- Support the team in conducting routine inspections, testing systems for leaks or faults, and ensuring compliance with safety standards
Skills
- Basic mechanical knowledge with an eagerness to learn about gas systems, plumbing, carpentry, and electrical components
- Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and assembly techniques
- Strong understanding of safety procedures related to gas work and appliance installation
- Ability to perform basic math calculations for measurements and adjustments
- Physical strength for heavy lifting tasks and working in confined or elevated spaces
- Good communication skills to follow instructions clearly and work effectively within a team
- Valid driving license preferred for commercial driving tasks or site visits
