PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Join the BBC News Finance Operations team as an Accountant, playing a key role in ensuring the accuracy, integrity and control of financial data. You will own key operational accounting processes, deliver robust balance sheet reconciliations, and support audit and year-end activities, working closely with a wide network of finance and operational stakeholders to maintain high-quality financial reporting and strong internal controls.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:
• Own and deliver accurate and timely month-end processes, ensuring completeness, integrity and accurate general ledger postings (including journals, recharges and adjustments) in line with accounting standards and BBC policies
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations and control processes, ensuring all balances are fully substantiated, compliant and supported by appropriate evidence, and resolving issues promptly.
- Deliver key operational finance processes (including international remittances, advances, payroll reporting and recharges), ensuring accuracy, consistency and adherence to controls.
- Support the delivery of internal and external audits and year-end activities, working closely with Finance Controllers, Group Finance and auditors to ensure a robust and well-controlled environment.
- Collaborate with Finance Operations colleagues, FP&A, embedded finance, Treasury, international bureaux managers and BBC service providers, building strong relationships to resolve issues and support global operations effectively.
- Document and apply accounting judgements and policies, while proactively identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen controls and drive efficiency across Finance Operations
