Are you looking for a hands-on role where quality matters? British Silverware is seeking a dedicated Warehouse & Quality Control Operative to join our Sheffield workshop.
From world-renowned trophies and medals to bespoke cutlery and special commissions, you will play a vital role in ensuring our high-value products are handled with care, inspected to perfection, and dispatched on time.
Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will be the guardian of our standards, overseeing items as they progress through the workshop and ensuring the smooth flow of production.
- Quality Control & Inspection: Physically inspecting silverware at various stages of production to ensure every piece meets our prestigious quality benchmarks.
- Cleaning & Polishing: Hands-on finishing of silverware to ensure items are pristine before moving to the next stage or final dispatch. This process includes both hand polishing and the use of ultrasonic cleaning machines.
- Workshop Support: Coordinating between departments and preparing items for their next production phase (e.g. moving work from polishing to engraving).
- Stock Control: Managing the "booking in and out" of items and ensuring our internal tracking system remains 100% accurate.
- Dispatch Management: Conducting final stock checks and securely packing high-value items for safe transit.
About You
We are looking for someone who takes pride in "getting it right." Full training will be provided on our specific quality standards and processes; you don’t need to be a silversmith, but you do need a sharp eye and a methodical mind.
- Detail-Oriented: You notice the tiny imperfections others might miss.
- Organised: You can juggle multiple projects (from a single medal to a full canteen of cutlery) simultaneously.
- A Natural Communicator: You enjoy moving between teams to keep everyone on the same page.
- Hands-on: You are comfortable handling delicate, high-value items with care.
- Varied Work: No two days are the same. You will work on a massive range of products, from everyday luxury cutlery to some of the most famous trophies in the world.
Requirements
- Physical Fitness: Must be physically able to handle and move heavy items across the workshop safely.
- Attention to Detail: A sharp eye for spotting imperfections and a commitment to maintaining high standards.
- Organised Mindset: Ability to track multiple items through different departments and maintain accurate records.
- Reliability: Comfortable with an early start (7:00 am) and a workshop environment.
Benefits
- The 3-Day Weekend: Enjoy a better work-life balance with a 5-day week condensed into 4 days (Monday to Thursday).
- Holiday: 22 days per year plus statutory bank holidays.
- Pension: Enrolment in the workplace pension scheme.
- Uniform: Full uniform provided.
- The Work: The pride of working on elite products ranging from national trophies to luxury silverware.
