We work with a wide range of waste and recycling equipment including conveyors, balers, wrappers, compactors, shredders, strappers, tippers, over-band magnets and ECS separators.
WME operates throughout the UK, Ireland and Europe.
This is an interesting and challenging role requiring the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Working Hours & Benefits
This is a full-time position working 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, including a 30-minute lunch break.
The role includes regular overtime and requires some overnight stays and weekend working, providing the opportunity to earn a high income.
The position also requires participation in an on-call rota of approximately 1 in 8.

Main Purpose of the Role
Working closely with the service and installation engineering team, you will carry out:
- Installation of new and second-hand equipment
- Service inspections in line with WME service check sheets and procedures
- Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical breakdown and fault finding on recycling equipment
- Mechanical, hydraulic and electrical repairs and refurbishment of recycling equipment
- Training customers in the safe operation of recycling equipment
- Completion of worksheets, reports, check sheets and timesheets electronically using an engineer's tablet, ensuring information is returned to the office promptly to enable quotations, spare parts and reports to be provided to customers
Main Duties
The Multi-Skilled Engineer will work with our wider team, providing a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and gain valuable experience while delivering a broad range of services on recycling and waste-handling equipment.
Main duties include:
- Working safely and to the required standards
- Working independently or as part of a team
- Servicing, breakdown, repair and installation of recycling and waste-handling equipment
- Completing job reports and check sheets following completion of work
- Communicating with customers and providing telephone support when required
- Supporting the continued growth of WME through quality of work, commitment, attitude, helpfulness and excellent customer service
Skills & Experience
The successful applicant will need to demonstrate:
- Willingness to stay away from home when required, potentially for up to 7 days at a time, and undertake some weekend working
- Mechanical skills – stripping and rebuilding equipment in our workshop and on customer sites, installation of new equipment and refurbishment of existing equipment
- Electrical skills – fault finding on 24V control circuits and three-phase systems
- PLC knowledge would be advantageous
- Hydraulic skills – fault finding and repair of hydraulic systems
- Computer literacy – worksheets, timesheets and other paperwork are completed using a tablet or handheld device
- Full clean driving licence
- Self-motivation and reliability
- Confident and friendly communication skills, both face-to-face and over the telephone
- Ability to think on your feet and use your own initiative
- Ability to work independently with integrity and professionalism
- Good team-working skills and willingness to commit to the company's work ethic

Pay: £40,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
