20 hours per week, salary £28,000+ full-time equivalent, pro-rated to match hours
Are you a talented, independent-minded interior designer looking for a role where your design decisions genuinely shape real projects, not just moodboards?
If you're looking for a flexible role within a small and mighty team where your work has a direct impact on developer projects from concept through to completion, this could be for you.
Do not skip! Instructions on how to apply are at the bottom of this listing, attention to detail is important for this role so we won't be looking at applicants that don't follow these instructions, including adding a cover letter.
Are you right for the role?
- Are you confident designing a whole property, not just a single room?
- Do you enjoy working across multiple live projects at once?
- Are you comfortable making decisions independently, without needing constant sign-off?
- Do you understand how design needs to work commercially, not just aesthetically?
- Are you calm and organised when juggling competing deadlines?
- Do you take pride in a scheme that's practical as well as beautiful?
- Are you proactive about flagging issues before they become problems?
- Are you looking for a role that can grow with you as the business grows?
This role is perfect for someone who loves seeing a project through from blank canvas to finished space. Someone who gains energy from taking ownership of a design and making it work in the real world, not just on paper.
You'll be working directly with our developer clients, designing full builds, and helping bring commercially-minded, compliance-aware interior design to every project.
We're looking for the right person to join us, offering flexible working within a supportive and ambitious small team.
It won't be everyone's cup of tea…
If the next list resonates, this might not be the role for you.
Are you wrong for this role?
- You prefer working on a small part of the design in a bigger team
- You prefer working on single rooms rather than whole properties
- You wait for detailed direction rather than using your own judgement
- You find commercial or budget constraints frustrating to design around
- You prefer a slower pace with fewer moving projects
- You find it hard to work independently without daily oversight
- You don't enjoy working in a fast-paced small business environment
- You need constant supervision to stay productive
This role requires someone who can think practically, work independently, and bring a scheme together from start to finish.
What you'll be doing
As Interior Designer at Aben Interiors and Projects Ltd, you will:
- Design full interior schemes for developer projects, working across entire builds from start to finish
- Work directly with partnering architects to achieve great layouts.
- Select and specify materials, furniture, and finishes in line with each project's brief and budget
- Work independently across a variety of projects at different stages simultaneously
- Liaise with clients to understand project goals and translate them into workable schemes
- Consider compliance and practical build requirements alongside aesthetics in both residential and commercial projects
- Prepare mood boards, specifications, and design documentation for client and contractor use
- Visit site to check in on progress, measure up and install where needed
- Track project timelines and flag any design-related delays or issues
You will play a key role in shaping the quality and consistency of our clients' finished projects.

- Excellent eye for detail and finish
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
