About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and qualified Head Chef to lead our kitchen team within our friendly and caring residential care home. This role is ideal for a passionate chef who understands the importance of providing nutritious, appetising meals that enhance the wellbeing and quality of life of our residents.
As Head Chef, you will be responsible for planning and preparing varied menus, catering for individual dietary requirements, managing the kitchen team, and ensuring the highest standards of food safety and hygiene are maintained at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and serve nutritious, high-quality meals for residents.
- Create varied menus that cater to dietary, nutritional, cultural, and medical needs.
- Lead, supervise, and support the kitchen team.
- Manage food ordering, stock control, and kitchen budgets.
- Ensure full compliance with Food Hygiene, HACCP, COSHH, and Health & Safety regulations.
- Maintain accurate records relating to food safety and kitchen operations.
- Work closely with residents and management to ensure meal satisfaction and quality.
- Ensure the kitchen is clean, organised, and operating efficiently.
Person Specification
- A caring, compassionate and respectful approach.
- Good communication skills (Spoken and written English)
- Professional Chef Qualification (NVQ Level 2/3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent).
- Minimum 3 years' experience working within a restaurant or care home kitchen.
- Previous experience in a senior chef or kitchen management role.
- Strong knowledge of nutrition, special diets, allergens, and food safety regulations.
- Food Hygiene Certificate (Level 2 minimum).
- Excellent leadership, organisational, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage a busy kitchen environment.
Hours
Full time- 44 hours per week. Shifts worked over a 7 day rota. This can be discussed more at interview stage.
