About QSD Fire Systems
QSD Fire Systems is an established fire protection contractor providing fire suppression, passive fire protection and associated fire safety services throughout North Wales and North West England.
Due to continued growth within our passive fire protection division, we are looking to recruit an experienced Fire Stopper to join our team.
This position would suit someone who takes pride in their work, understands the importance of correct installation and documentation, and is comfortable working independently as well as part of a wider site team.
The Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for carrying out passive fire protection works across a range of residential and commercial projects.
Your duties will include:
- Installing fire stopping systems to service penetrations and construction joints
- Installing fire-rated batt, sealants, collars, wraps and other approved systems
- Reading and following manufacturers’ installation details
- Ensuring all installations comply with the specified tested system
- Recording completed installations accurately using OneTrace
- Uploading photographs, installation details, product information and supporting evidence to OneTrace
- Completing installation records, labels and quality assurance documentation
- Identifying unsuitable or non-compliant site conditions
- Measuring and recording completed works
- Liaising professionally with site managers, clients and other trades
- Maintaining high standards of workmanship, cleanliness and health and safety
- Travelling to sites throughout North Wales and North West England
Experience and Qualifications
Applicants must have previous experience working within passive fire protection and fire stopping.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Proven experience as a Fire Stopper
- A good understanding of passive fire protection systems
- Experience installing fire batt, sealants, collars and wraps
- The ability to read installation details and manufacturers’ specifications
- An understanding of service penetration fire stopping
- Experience using OneTrace or a similar passive fire protection recording system
- Good attention to detail and accurate record-keeping skills
- The ability to complete installation records and upload supporting evidence
- A valid CSCS card
- A full UK driving licence
- Good communication and organisational skills
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Relevant passive fire protection qualifications, NVQs or manufacturer training would be advantageous.
